Speccy is showing 4GB RAM, but I am surprised to see that it is Single Channel. After the Memory Mismatch message was posted for a few seconds, the PC booted normally and is working fine.

I reduced to two sticks and this time got monitor and boot up normally, except there was a message saying something about memory mismatch. As far as I could tell, boot failed - but there was no beeping. I got nothing on the monitor and the CPU fan started running at full speed. According to, this system is upgradable to PC3-12800 1600Mhz.įirst, I removed the existing RAM and inserted all 4 of the "upgrade" sticks.

Those specifications are exactly what I had come to believe I needed, for this HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor ( Intel Core i5-2500 3.30GHz), which I believe was a Program Computer, sold without HDD or Operating System and stripped down to 1 stick of RAM DDR3 2R PC3-10600U - 9 - 10 - BO. This RAM (4 x 2GB) was advertised as DIMM " DDR3 Ram PC3-12800 1600mhz" I just bought 4, 2GB sticks of RAM I found on ebay (irresistably cheap) and I'm a little confused about what speccy is telling me.
